Kiln control has traditionally been complicated and time-consuming. Outdated interfaces, confusing settings, and limited feedback make it difficult for users—whether artists, educators, or small manufacturers—to fire with confidence.

Managing complex schedules or multiple kilns often requires constant oversight, slowing down productivity and increasing the risk of errors.

The Vision

The founders of the TAP Kiln Controller wanted to create a future where kiln control was no longer a technical barrier but a seamless part of the creative and production process.

The goal was to transform the kiln experience by combining cutting-edge technology with user-first design—making advanced firing capabilities accessible to everyone, from first-time users to seasoned professionals.

To achieve this, the solution needed to provide intuitive tools, real-time insights, and remote access—giving users complete control, greater confidence, and more time to focus on what truly matters: creating.

The Solution

Our team implemented the TAP II Kiln Controller software, building on the client’s original TAP kiln control system to create a consumer kiln controller with a fully graphical, intuitive interface.

Retaining most of the original functionality, we fully reimplemented the UI, updated the tech stack, and later developed TAP II Pro. We also integrated features like schedule creation and management, live monitoring, detailed data logging with firing history, and enhanced connectivity to make firing easier, more reliable, and more accessible than ever.

And with the TAP Kiln Control Mobile App, users can now monitor and control their kiln remotely from their smartphone or tablet, making it even more accessible and flexible.

By combining advanced control technology with an intuitive, touchscreen-based interface, this system dramatically reduces the learning curve—so users can focus on their work, not the settings.
