AI Innovations: How AI & Custom Software are Reshaping Radiology (EP 3) with Josh Polster

by | May 9, 2025

In Episode 3 of the AI Innovations Podcast Series, hosted by John Stamper, Josh Polster, CEO of Mediphany, shares how his team partnered with Scopic to revolutionize the way radiology reports are delivered and understood.

This episode highlights how video-based explanations and AI-driven solutions can simplify complex medical imaging, create real legal use cases, and empower patients and legal teams to truly understand their health information.

Whether you’re in the healthcare space or just curious about practical AI innovation, this conversation is a must-listen.

From Radiology Reports to Clear Visual Explanations

Josh Polster’s idea was to take confusing radiology text reports and turn them into patient-friendly video explanations.

“We needed to have a partner to help us develop the software that we use to do our service.”

With no technical background, Mediphany turned to Scopic to bring their vision to life – starting with an MVP, then expanding the platform to support real-world use cases in both healthcare and legal fields.

Building with Flexibility: The MVP Approach

The journey began by focusing on a scalable MVP, allowing for quick iteration and testing based on user needs.

“We kind of modularly have built our software platform.”

Scopic provided full-cycle support, including:

Bringing AI Into the Equation

As the platform matured, Mediphany expanded its capabilities by integrating AI. Scopic helped implement speech-to-text AI to automatically generate structured radiology reports from recorded videos.

“We’ve more recently got into a process where we’re generating text reports, and we’ve been using AI for that, which Scopic has helped us with.”

This enhanced the platform’s functionality, particularly for legal applications where accurate documentation matters. The future is bright when it comes to AI in radiology.

Helping Legal Teams See the Full Picture

One surprising market for Mediphany’s platform has been in legal fields like workers’ compensation.

“By showing it, the adjudicator can see with their own eyes what’s going on.”

By making imaging accessible and understandable through video, Mediphany helps adjudicators make better-informed decisions – bridging the knowledge gap between doctors and non-medical decision-makers.
