ZoomRadar ChatGPT App
Real-Time Weather, Now in ChatGPT
The Challenge
When the weather changes, people want answers fast. ZoomRadar was built to deliver just that. With live, customizable weather apps and real-time updates, the platform already gave users the information they needed, when they needed it.
But building a great product was only the first step. The bigger challenge was making sure more people could find it.
With people already searching for weather information every day, ZoomRadar needed to find the best way to increase its visibility and adapt to changing search behaviors and preferences.
The Vision
With a clear goal in mind, ZoomRadar set its sights on a new space where millions of people were already searching: ChatGPT.
And the launch of ChatGPT apps on October 6, 2025 opened up the perfect opportunity. ZoomRadar could reach users in a completely new way by bringing real-time weather information directly into their ChatGPT experience.
But making the most of this opportunity meant keeping pace with a rapidly changing search landscape. Having already worked with our team, ZoomRadar knew we could help them build on their existing presence.
The Scopic Solution
To help ZoomRadar expand into this new search space, our team developed a custom ChatGPT app that brings its live weather experience directly into the conversation. We integrated ZoomRadar’s interactive weather map so users could access detailed, real-time weather information without leaving ChatGPT.
Our team designed the experience around the way people naturally interact with ChatGPT. Users can make simple, natural-language requests, which ChatGPT translates into actions on the map. Based on the request, the app can center on a specific location, adjust the zoom level, and display the most relevant weather layers.
To make this possible, we built the app using the Model Context Protocol (MCP) and OpenAI Apps SDK, hosted it on AWS, and deployed it through AWS CDK. We also extended ZoomRadar’s existing map frontend to support location, zoom, and weather-layer parameters, allowing the map to respond dynamically to each request.
The result is a more intuitive way for users to explore ZoomRadar’s weather data directly through ChatGPT. From temperatures and winds to warnings, storm tracks, lightning, and animated weather data, users can simply ask for the information they want and see it reflected on the interactive map.
